In Reply To its likely that your HC will go up and NOx will go down posted by AshsZ (FABio) on February 05, 2003 at 09:14 AM

Message most the CAT is 3 way cat, it will reduce HC,CO and NOX, The "Rhodium" in side the CAT is to reduce NOx , so with out precat the over all emissions will go up but if you still have a "good" mine cat, you might still pass the TEst. but if you failed the NOX only, first you should check your timming and then check for lean condition.

:as the precats tend to get really hot and generate some NOx of their own. Its good in a way because being hot reduces HC, but increases NOx. Removing them will probably lower the NOx and raise the HC - but please - do not quote me on that. Anyone who is anyone here will know that there is really not any good way to determine the results unless you simply do it and test it. Empirical results are the only good results... everthing else is just heresay.
